The Bruce Anchor is a proud member of the Tobermory community. Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula aren’t just home to the amazing natural wonders of the Fathom Five National Marine Park—there are also a number of exciting local community events that make the area truly vibrant. One such event that’s coming up this weekend is the Tobermory Trail Race, from Friday September 22nd 2017 to Sunday September 24th. Here is more information about what to expect during this fun-filled weekend.
What is the Tobermory Trail Race Weekend?
The Tobermory Trail Race Weekend is a weekend of running events, including a marathon, a half marathon and a relay. All of the proceeds from the weekend go towards the Tobermory Primary Place Daycare. This race is a great way to get some exercise, see the natural beauty of the Bruce Peninsula, and enjoy all the attractions Tobermory has to offer.
The marathon and relay will both commence on Saturday, September 23rd at 7:30am. The half-marathon will start an hour later at 8:30am. On Sunday, September 24th, there will be a 5km run through Flowerpot Island.
The marathon course runs through the Bruce Trail, one of the most scenic hiking trails in the country. Enjoy the stunning views of the Bruce Peninsula while jogging through a beautiful and awe-inspiring forest. It’s important to note that this race is not for the faint of heart—the Bruce Trail is rugged, slippery, and requires runners to be at peak physical condition.
